Dan Gifford directs The World in One Place for CNN

CNN’s Original Series, the broadcaster's award-winning original content arm, calls on the talents of 76 director Dan Gifford to showcase the lengths CNN will go to make documentaries that tell captivating stories whilst simultaneously challenging world views.

In this simple yet clever film, we see large television screens stacked up together in an expansive desert setting, as the screens tune into CNN we recognise Original Series’s ability to tell large, global stories as well as smaller, personal, human ones.

Dan says:

'The brief was to do something spectacular to promote the sheer variety of CNN’s original content. The answer was to build a sculpture-like wall of 190 working televisions in the middle of the Mojave Desert. I worked closely with Production Designer Greg Blair and DOP Johan Palm so that the ambient desert light blended perfectly with the spill from the TV sets, moving from day to night in the process. The poetic and thoughtful VO is provided by CNN star Anthony Bourdain.'
